Review of Astrological Readings #Election2016

July 11, 2016

Well, it’s taken just over a week for the result to be clear that Malcolm Turnbull won the election. I predicted a Bill Shorten win and I was wrong. I also said that if the result differed from my forecast that people should not blame the Stars but look at my interpretation.

Now is the right time to explain the rationale of my astrological method and I hope when I do you will see the method did produce a correct result, it’s just that I ticked a wrong box.

Using transits as an astrological method of prediction is very old- at least 5,000 years. It is simply seeing where the planets are at a future date from the date and time of birth and looking at these positions together. The birth chart is the blue print of the life and as the planets and stars move across the skies they move over the original blueprint of the life. The positions of these heavenly bodies apart from making angles to each others’ current position also make angles to their original birth position. Thus we have a double chart with the person’s birth chart in the centre and the passing transit planets the outer chart. As we see here:

In the 20th Century, Astrology took on a humanistic approach influenced by psychological theories, especially Carl Jung. Astrological effects, from this perspective, were inner, psychological influences and experiences. Gone were the more ancient concepts of “Good and Bad Stars”, of Stars determining an individual’s Fate. So, “Bad” became “challenging” and “Good” became “harmonious” for the inner world of the individual ie their psychological state.

Looking at and analysing transits from this psychological perspective means that we are looking at the influence of the planets on the inner psychological state of the individual. So “Good” transits will give good, positive emotional experiences and “Bad” transits will give bad, negative emotional experiences. Obviously within this duality of “Good and Bad” there’s a spectrum and within this spectrum there are nuanced interpretations. This is where the Angles and the Orbs come in to assist in reading the nuanced spectrum of emotional experience.

I took the simple formula that if an individual experiences good, positive emotional vibes then the outer world the individual is immersed in will also be positive. So, my simple formula meant that if Bill Shorten or Malcolm Turnbull experienced positive transits then these positive planetary positions signalled a win and vice versa.

The astrological readings of the Election 2016 (written about 3 months before the election) showed that Bill Shorten will experience progressively positive emotional states and that he would grow in confidence until the election and beyond. This is why I called a win for ALP. Conversely, the readings showed that Turnbull was in trouble emotionally and thus he would lose.

What is also interesting about these readings is that at the time of publishing everybody was writing Bill Shorten off. Malcolm Turnbull’s popularity was fading but no mainstream media journalist could see the possibility of an ALP win. The astrological readings here did.

If we look at what happened on 2 July, 2016 – Election Day, psychologically, Bill Shorten was ecstatic and Malcolm Turnbull was not a very happy man.

This is why I said at the beginning of this post that the reading was correct, it was just that I ticked the wrong box because I had the wrong question. If the question was – who would be the happiest on 2 July, 2016, and I answered Bill Shorten, there would be no question about the correctness of my reading.

However, I didn’t answer that question. I answered who would win the election and I was wrong.

I also tried an experimental reading a few days before the election because I and others wanted something a bit more current than the readings I made three months before. As we all know, the planets move at their own inexorable pace and the only way I could think of giving us another more current view was to do something different. I decided that since the election would affect our country, Australia, perhaps a transit analysis of Australia on Election day would give us an insight.

Some people are surprised that a country can have an astrological chart too. The reality is that ANYTHING that has a beginning or a birth can have a chart. There are stock market traders who use astrology to trade companies and corporations who use the birth of the company as its horoscope! Many Forex traders take note of the day to day transits over Foreign Exchanges – like London, New York ,Sydney and Tokyo. People would be surprised to learn that many Asian businesses and stock market traders use their own native methods of Astrology to assist their projections and investment strategies.

Events also have a birth and I have used this for the Cultural Stomp 1997, Woomera 2002, Baxter 2003 and the Flotillas of Hope 2004. I have also used it for some important TAFE projects I managed. Mind you, I never told anyone who worked with me at TAFE I did this because I knew they’d think I was crazy. Not bragging here, but I won National and State TAFE Quality Awards for different projects I initiated and coordinated that had astrological support. The astrological readings of these gave me insights I could never get from any other source and the confidence to push ahead and be immersed in the events. Astrology also gave me the appropriate time  to leave TAFE and start on another journey in my life.

Coming back to Australia and its horoscope – I read the transits of the Election Day and I saw that the Election would be very close and a result delayed for quite a while. I did the reading on 30 June, 2016 and that is exactly what happened. Indeed, it took over a week for Bill Shorten to concede defeat and we still don’t know the final result yet as of today, 10 July, 2016.

Election Bi Chart Canberra transit with Australia

I found doing Australia’s Chart an interesting challenge because I couldn’t empathise in a “psychological” way as I did with Shorten and Turnbull because I was dealing with a country. I had to refocus my “imagining” and surprisingly it took an engine like imaging where the planetary forces became “brake and accelerator” like. It is difficult to describe but I will just say it was an energetic reading whereas the Shorten/Turnbull readings were psychological.

Some have asked me to continue my astrological readings given the current state of play in Australia’s governance. If I do I will have to work out how to read the Senate and its relationship to the Government. Do I use the day the new Senate sits for the first time as its Birth date? What about Bill Shorten and Malcolm Turnbull, will regular astrological updates assist in reading the political ambience? I don’t know but I’m willing to explore these possibilities.

Thanks to all who have supported me in my astrological deliberations. I do this because it’s fun and because I now know there are others who find it interesting I may continue exploring this incredible and mysterious mode of “knowing” in Australian politics.

Predicting Election Results with Astrology

April 1, 2016

Star Code Readings for Australian Election 2016:

ALP Bill Shorten >> Short answer >> ALP will win.

LNP Malcolm Turnbull >> Short answer >> LNP will lose.

Australia’s Chart Reading for #Election2016 #Ausvotes >> Short Answer >> Hung Parliament with negotiated ALP win.

The chances of accurately predicting an election by pollsters and journalists are pretty dismal. If I toss a coin, there’s a 50:50 chance of being right. That’s not bad compared to some political commentators’ predictions.

A few years ago I came across an interesting article that said nearly 80% of astrologers who attempted, accurately predicted the 2012 USA Election outcome at least 3 months and one 26 years before hand! In his 1976 book “The Astrological Chart of the United States, from 1776 to 2141” Gar Osten wrote that the year 2012 would see the “re-election of the incumbent president”.

Intrigued I looked further into it because an 80% correct result is not bad considering most mainstream media had written Obama off before the election. A prediction 26 years beforehand is mind blowing.

I looked into each of the astrologers’ forecasting methods and predictive techniques. I wanted to filter out all approaches that were foreign to my approach and/or would require a level of expertise I didn’t have. By the end of this looking I found one I could adapt to my approach.

It was the simplest.

Now, I’m aware that most of you reading this have a critical and sceptical view on astrology.

For this reason, I’ve wracked my brains over how to structure what I want to say about the coming election because I use astrology as a tool for understanding life. If I wasn’t using this tool to make sense of current political atmospherics and wrote an opinion piece instead, I’d have no worries. For some reason the mention of astrology gets peoples’ backs up and they immediately throw an Art that works with Time into the recycle bin.

Most people are happy to read opinions and commentary based on other biased opinions and commentary churned out in mainstream media. An opinion based on astronomical data ie number, generated by an active imaginative interpretation of this is “superstitious”. However, an opinion based from within a Press Gallery Reality Bubble is not. Is the Press Gallery commentary scientific? No, just an opinion embalmed in a mainstream media consensus reality.

The stars and planets I’m concerned with are archetypal forces (Carl Jung), mytho-poetic currents within humanity. Astrology for me is a means of exploring the edges of rational thought as it touches the unknown. The horoscope is like a semi permeable membrane, it can suspend the ordinary associative processes of the mind and allow a different kind of attention to manifest. This attention, striking off from the symbolic elements of the horoscope gives a different kind of mind environment. Psychologists call it imagination.

This way of looking at astrology is not accepted by most astrologers because it banishes star forces, energies, vibrations etc of the external planets and stars. This way of looking at astrology is troublesome for many because it says there is NO intrinsic meaning to the planets. It also points the way to divination. Divinatory astrology puts it on par with other mantic arts – like Tarot and the I Ching. To many astrologers this is anathema because they like to consider it as a “science”.

Some have referred to this kind of astrology as Hermeneutic Astrology:

Hermeneutics is the study of meaning, of how we arrive at our interpretations of things. In the context of astrology the term implies a turning away from the common assumption that a fixed astrological meaning is simply “there”, in front of us, as some sort of fact of nature. The hermeneutic inquiry in astrology reveals the essential dependency of the meaning of symbols on the act of interpretation of that meaning. Seen in this way, horoscope interpretation involves something other than a supposed pre-existent meaning waiting to be decoded, and depends both on the context in which meaning is sought, as well as on the intentionality of the one making the interpretation.” (Cornelius, Geoffrey, C. 1994. “The Moment of Astrology: Origins in Divination”)

jung archetypes

I like to consider this way of looking at astrology as a poetic interpretation of astronomical data. Poetry from numbers and geometry – active imagination in action. The calculations and the process of symbolising are just a pretext to occupy the conscious mind. The complexity of nuance and context for symbolising engages the rational mind while the REAL work is done by the broader and more holistic unconscious. This unconscious insinuates “meaning” beyond the logical limits of rational “complexity”. So, my manner of working these “complexities” is to treat them as a long Zen Koan and the Sky Map – Horoscope as a Yantra.

One can explore consciousness and imagination deeper and look at the structures of mind and the material that appears as is done in various and diverse ways by Phenomenology. I just like to play on the edge of reason, that spot between sanity and insanity, where all the wild creatures are 😉

Sometimes, in flickering moments, astrologising can be vision. A “vision – feeling” into another world that is holographic in structure, energetic and alive. In these rare glimpses, a human and the universe are seen as the same organism. As above so below, Hermes Trismegistus says. A different relationship exists between things – or at least that is what appears when astrological Sun glasses are worn.

Here are two articles by Geoffrey Cornelius that point to a way I look at Astrology Practice “Astrology as Divination” and “Is Astrology Divination and Does it Matter?”

Below are posts in my blog which give further insight into my approach:

Star Code Reading > Tony Abbott and the Time Line of His Downfall

December 24, 2014
“If there is dust on our lens, we see dark spots in the heavens.” Carlos SuaresAbboch Murdott pix text

Like many of you I am dismayed, disappointed and apprehensive about what  this reactionary Abbott government is doing to Australia. As many of you have noticed, Abbott is showing characteristics of a “sociopath” . His lying is not just a one off, it’s constant and he lies about his lying.

I was curious to see what the Stars have to say about this man and the period he and we are passing through.

If you just want a summary of my findings here it is – Tony Abbott’s charts indicate he will not be Prime Minister earliest March 8, 2015 and latest by the end of May, 2015.  The process of his down fall is now in play and unless he changes fundamentally his psychology, he will either lose the Leadership by a spill or there will be a Double Dissolution.

I’m assuming that most readers don’t have much knowledge of Astrology and how its symbolism works.  I won’t try to explain its symbolic processes, you can do your own research because it’s far too big to cover in one little post. However, I will try to show a little of how my conclusions have come about because without it my analysis will not make sense.

I recommend you read the following posts in my blog to get an idea of where I’m coming from with all this Astrology stuff before you read this analysis. You may be surprised.

To assist you, check this table out. It shows the signs and their names so I don’t have to show each symbol every time I mention it.  I am trying to interpret an astrological view point to those who are not literate in star language. For the purposes of this post all you have to do, if you are not familiar with astrological symbolism, is look at the charts and refer to the tables below to know what symbol and position they represent.

For ease, the Moon and Pluto are both called planets. Below the Table is Tony Abbott’s Transit Chart for December 8, 2014.

Above : This is Tony Abbott’s chart with the planets passing over on 8 December, 2014 outside the circle.

The first thing that strikes you is that Abbott  is a Scorpio. This is important because he is the first Scorpio PM of Australia since Federation.  A total solar eclipse on his Scorpio Sun also happened on the same day  of his 2013 birthday  transiting Pluto at 9.29 Capricorn was on Australia’s Sun, exact to the minute!!

Tony Abbott’s birthday in 2013 it coincided with a total solar (hybrid) eclipse! Abbott is a Scorpio, and Australia has never had a Scorpio Prime Minister but

Some background info on Horoscopes, Transits and Angles

By looking at the position of planets passing over the birth chart, astrology reveals feelings engendered by the relationship between the planets and their position. The angles between them and their position in the chart speak. It is a language. It’s kind of geometrical / numerological in nature. Forget science, there’s no science to this – it is structured guessing using faint star signals from the symbols. It is always an approximation, a walk in the dark.

When one draws up an Astrological chart (horoscope) the birthdate and time is crucial. Of all the symbolic points of a horoscope the Angles pictured below as 1) 2) 3) 4) are the most important because they are derived from the exact time and place of a person’s birth. Abbott was born in London at 4 AM.

The Angles make the scaffolding of a person’s life. Point 4) is the Ascendant (called the First House) and shows what is rising on the eastern horizon, the Descendant Point 2) (called the Seventh House) what is setting on the western horizon. Point 1) the Midheaven (Tenth House), or MH shows the highest point the Sun reaches at noon and Point 3) the Immum Coeli (Fourth House) or IC, shows the lowest point the Sun reaches under the Earth around midnight.

The chart above shows Tony Abbott’s Horoscope in the centre and outside the circle are the planets’ positions at the time of reading – December 8, 2014. These are called the Transits. The blue circles show the important points of the chart.

The horoscope is a snapshot of where the stars and planets were at the moment of your birth. Astronomically it is objective. Astrology brings in qualities and values that have nothing to do with the external planets except the correlation of timing. As we know, the stars and planets move as the Earth moves. Nothing stands still.

As the planets move overhead they pass over us and our horoscope, touching the original symbolic points of the chart. These are called “transits”. The inner planets are  Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, with the Moon orbiting the Earth. The outer planets are Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The inner planets move quite fast compared to the outer planets so they touch the 4 Angles more often than the outer. Their touch is light and while they may shake the structure of astrological identity they do not change the structure. Saturn has the biggest impact of the inner planets and orbits the Sun in about 28 years. However, when one of the outer planets passes over the Angles your life changes. The “architecture” of your life changes.

planets orbits time

Uranus takes 84 years to orbit the Sun. If we live to the age of 84 we will experience a Uranus transit over all the Angles – once every 21 years. Neptune (165 years) and Pluto (248 years) being far slower means their transits over the Angles are much rarer and so, much deeper and more far reaching. Dividing those orbital years by 4 we get Neptune passing over an Angle every 41.25 years, Pluto – 62 years. You won’t experience a transit of these two planets over more than 2 Angles in your lifetime.

The short interpretation for these transits:

Uranus brings freedom, enlightenment, autonomy and shocks “out of the blue”

Neptune brings confusion, idealism and a spiritual immersion,

Pluto brings crisis, psychological insight, transformation and intensity.

However, these influences are much nuanced and are naturally modified by the sign the transiting planet is in during the course of the transit. With Uranus and Neptune having just changed sign (to Aries and Pisces respectively), and the comparatively recent arrival of Pluto in Capricorn, the outer planet transits to the four angles will be subtly different to how they were a few years back.

Now let’s look at Tony Abbott’s Transits happening NOW.

We will see Pluto is not only shaking the Prime Minister’s House but rattling it big time. There’s the chance for him to transform and shape shift into a more empathic Leader and thus save his government from oblivion. Or, he can remain stuck in his habitual ways and watch the Liberals sink. This is the tension, the drama of what is happening to him now and over the next 6 months or so. All the signs are pointing to Abbott losing the Prime Ministership by May, 2015. There could be a leadership spill or a Double Dissolution Election called. Either way, Abbott won’t be PM.

abbott transits 8 dec 2014 with arrow Mars opp MH

Abbott has Pluto passing over the IC Angle (3) and it is opposite the Mid Heaven Angle (1)

Pluto oppose Midheaven: 24/11/2014

The G20 Conference was on 15 – 16 November, 2014. Australia and the world saw how myopic and small minded Tony Abbott is when he complained about the difficulties he had in getting his GP Tax through and deregulating university fees. One week later Pluto opposed his Mid Heaven exactly. So it was approaching his Mid Heaven for about 3 months and will still be felt intensely for another 3 months.

This once-in-a-lifetime transit is a time of profound psychological change, and his inner transformation will be reflected in his outer life.  The changes that are taking place around him (in whatever form) can be good ones, and more painless if he doesn’t resist.  However, it doesn’t look like he will go with the flow. His stubbornness and crusader mentality to impose change for ideological reasons is apparent to all. He is failing to turn inwards and seek inner guidance.

Changes are likely in both his domestic life and his political life. The need for change will not go away and he has to deal with them directly. Poor Margie will have to put up with a fake relationship as long as Tony is PM because it is not a good look for a Catholic PM to leave his wife. There are major upheavals occurring right now and there is damage but he has to keep up appearances.

Abbott knows he has to restructure his whole political vision but because of  power struggles and intrigues he can’t or won’t. The recent reshuffle was just a band aid and he knows it. This transit shows there is going to be some drastic and irrevocable changes in his political environment. Indeed, it looks like Climate Change will impose itself as an important factor in his political troubles over the next few months.

Immum Coeli  (IC) Point 3)

Pluto is moving through the 4th House pointing to Abbott losing the Leadership (among other Astrological indications) before an election because this House is known as the House of Endings.

Abbott trans IC cut

Since Abbott has Capricorn in his IC he is familiar with his stamp of authority and control, with assumed  heavy responsibilities for people dependent on him. This is so for both his family and now his broader  “family” the Government. However, this familiarity can also lead to inflexibility in mindset and behavior. The arrival of Pluto here cracks open this veneer of control and loosens the rigidity either by his own inner transformation or by his losing the Leadership. It looks like he is too stuck in his ways to  transform so he will be forced out. The positive outcome of this for Abbott is he will be free to grow  emotionally and to seek new ways of being.

Uranus Opposite Ascendant and Conjunct Descendant

abbott transits 8 dec 2014 with arrow Uranus opp Asc

Wherever Uranus transits, that is where it is time for people  to “update”  attitudes and behaviors. Abbott was a powerful and negative Opposition Leader but now that he is Prime Minister he has to throw away that mindset and lead not oppose. He even carries his opposition attitude towards the Australian people. The Descendant is his relationships with others. He does not see the need to deliberately change his manner of being  and thus act to change both his inner and outer behaviour. Uranus on his Descendant and opposite his Ascendant will maneuver him into situations that will blow up in his face forcing him to change. His rigidity is such that he cannot adapt so we will see him blow up his Prime Ministership.

With a Uranus transit it is to “expect the unexpected” – so anything can happen and in this context it has to do with his relationship with the Australian people and his immediate family. He has to be flexible and alive to change so as to adapt. It remains to be seen if he has the ability to do this.

Other Planets and a Time Line of Abbott’s Downfall.

As the planets move there are more angular relationships occurring between them. Since we know where the planets will be we can see the symbolism implicit in their position. So, looking towards the future we see many dark clouds ahead for Abbott’s hold on power.

January, 2015

Saturn square Pluto: 14/01/2015

Square means 90 degrees between planets. In this case we have 90 degrees between Saturn and Pluto. A Square, along with an Opposition is a “hard” angle and points to difficulties. Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn and for Abbott, the IC is Capricorn which is being contacted by Pluto. So, for him Saturn having a 90 degree nagular relationship with Pluto is very dire.

It shows a time of repeated obstacles and frustration.  It shows his fellow politicians and co-workers in his Cabinet are purposefully preventing him from satisfying his ambitions. It shows that he has to change strategies drastically or he will face losing the Leadership. During this period between now and May he will be frustrated and feel like striking back at the forces against him but he can’t because he has to appear as if nothing is happening – that all is well.

He will be forced to change and “restructure” the political situation but it will be to no avail because his power is being torn down from within his own party. If he resists he may find himself in even more difficult circumstances with major conflicts that may include legal problems, accusations of corruption and dishonesty.

This aspect will return again on 17 May, 2015 where it will finally signify Abbott’s downfall.

Mars oppose Pluto: 15/01/2015

We will see ethics and morals fly out the window if his  efforts to change things meet resistance. We will also see his sociopathic  selfish disregard for others come into view.

Mars trine Neptune: 16/01/2015

Around this time we may see a compromise on the GP Tax.

Mars square Saturn: 29/01/2015

Abbott will have frustrated anger and his colleagues blocking actions will lead him to the desire to smash something. He probably won’t but he will lack patience and attention to detail.

March, 2015

Mars is in the 7th: 4/03/2015

The earlier issues with having Uranus on the Descendant and opposite the Ascendant now become magnified because Mars is in the area. Whatever partnerships Abbott has may suffer from ego conflicts and his adversaries will be applying more challenging pressure on him with momentary confrontations.

Mars square Midheaven: 8/03/2015

Because Mars is on the Descendant it means that it is square (90 degrees) to the Mid Heaven. The aggressive energy within Abbott can get him into conflict with others, especially those in his Cabinet. Problems may crop up in the domestic area as well.

April, 2015

Mars oppose Neptune: 4/04/2015

This phase may be overwhelming  if a situation is stressful and demanding. His energy and confidence are low.

Mars is in the 8th: 6/04/2015

Mars is in the 8th house now, where it may cause ego conflicts concerning the Budget. This may bring the beginning of the end of Abbott’s fall.

Mars oppose Sun: 16/04/2015

Abbott’s sense of self and his need to survive politically are tested. Angry confrontations are possible. Buried resentment could surface suddenly.

Mars square Uranus: 16/04/2015

This is potentially an accident phase when restrictions promote impulsive actions. Abbott should expect the unexpected.

Mars oppose Mercury: 26/04/2015

Abbott’s ideas and plans may be challenged, causing harsh words and irritation.

May, 2015

Uranus oppose Jupiter: 13/05/2015

This transit occurs only once in each 84-year cycle of Uranus and is a time to proceed with caution. Abbott will  likely be  presented with many challenges now; he won’t have to seek them out.  Sudden changes will occur which will require his immediate action.

Sudden gains or losses are possible at this time.

He should resist the temptation to be overly optimistic.  The promises he makes may not be as easy to keep as he thinks. He may encounter conflicts regarding travel allowances, lawsuits and overall taxes.

There is also the possibility that things will be set in motion to oust Abbott from the leadership.

Mars square Pluto: 15/05/2015

Anger, frustration and any chances of winning are poor for Abbott with this transit and with all the other factors considered together.

Saturn square Pluto: 17/05/2015

This transit occurred in January 16, 2015 and now it is back again. Around this date the downfall will happen.

Mars oppose Saturn: 30/05/2015

Abbott will feel deprived and at a loss. By this time he would have well and trulty been ousted from the leadership of LNP and not be Prime Minister.

Conclusion

My astrological analysis of Abbott’s Transits show that if he cannot shift his attitude he won’t be Prime Minister by the end of May, 2015. I’ve looked at other astrological modes trying to gain an insight into what the future holds for our Prime Minister. One method called Solar Returns also paints a rather negative outlook for Abbott’s leadership. As does the Solar Arc.  I thought it wouldn’t add much more if I included the extra data and interpretations.

Obviously I cannot be certain that my interpretation is correct or even if this whole exercise is not merely a fantasy that has kept me occupied for its duration. I am certain that it has been worth while doing it just to see what happens. It will be interesting to see what pans out over the next 6 months.

Reporters Without Media Mogul Borders

February 25, 2013

Citizen Journalist

I wrote Reporters Without Media Mogul Borders as a comment to a post by Sally Baxter Pity the poor journalist…  on the blog  Australians For Honest Politics. The blog is dedicated to Citizen Journalism.

Reporters Without Media Mogul Borders is an idea which takes into account the rapid move away from old media onto Social Media. The idea is an attempt to introduce participatory and democratic processes into journalism using the new mobile web technologies.

=====================================================================================

Readers by partnering with regional newspapers could be joint commissioners of stories forming a hub interconnected by the web. This hub can be across the country, indeed from across the planet, which can employ reporters to investigate issues of importance to local communities.

Readers would raise funds by crowd sourcing, perhaps using the model that GetUp uses to raise funds for advertisements in old media. Instead of using funds to pay for advertisements the funds would be used to pay for a reporter’s commission to write / investigate story. The local newspaper could provide the administrative infrastructure. There could also be a tiered system of influence in the choice of reporter by readers. For example, a donation of $100 ( or whatever amount) is made would allow the reader to help choose the reporter for the story. Reporters could send their CV / application which would be accessible to the donaters on the web and those who donated the prescribed amount could choose the reporter to do the job by online voting.

People who do not donate can still be engaged in the funding by buying the individual story that has been commissioned by readers like themselves.   The model of local action with global transmission already exists with organisations such as Avaaz. We can take the idea of Reporters Without Borders to its logical conclusion – Reporters Without Media Mogul Borders.
